Mississippi Highway Patrol accident reports may now be purchased via the Internet.

“It is a matter of convenience,” said Public Safety Commissioner Albert Santa Cruz. “With gasoline prices continuing to rise, we are committed to try and add services that are easily available and useful to the motoring public.”

The system has undergone several weeks of testing and went live April 2nd. The records are accessible with the case identification number (ID). If an individual does not have the ID number, the records may be accessed with other criteria.

The records may be downloaded from www.reportbeam.com. Select the public access option and follow the prompts. The fees will be transmitted with a credit/debit card through a secure portal.

Company representatives interested in establishing an account for these transactions may do so by calling toll free, 877-290-9487 or in Jackson at 601-351-5023.

According to state law, accident reports can only be accessed by the crash victim, the victim’s family or the victim’s representative. Fraudulent acquisition of these records is punishable by fines up to $2,500 and/or six months in jail.
