The Office of Emergency Operations (OEO) has the responsibility to coordinate emergency preparedness and response for DPS-MHP. These tasks includes liaison with numerous other state and local support agencies. One of the missions includes the responsibilities of “Emergency Coordinating Officer or “ECO” function to the State Emergency Operations Center at MEMA (MS Emergency Management Agency).
The OEO is located at the agency’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The EOC complex has management and communications capabilities including video conference, telephone call center, and satellite radio along with amateur radio communications. The complex also maintains radio communications with each of the nine districts and can function as backup point to each district.
