Dear Mississippians,

As Director of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, I want to welcome you to our website. The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN), created by the legislature in 1971, has the privilege and duty to provide the citizens of Mississippi with a front line defense against the abuse and misuse of controlled substances.

The MBN provides investigative and enforcement services to local and federal law enforcement agencies throughout the state. In addition to conducting general and special investigations, the bureau provides specialized training to law enforcement throughout Mississippi and surrounding states. Numerous programs are operational and the latest technological advancements in drug enforcement are in place to combat the misuse and distribution of controlled substances. You will notice that we have provided a number of links to various websites that should serve to educate parents, teachers and students about the usage and effects of drugs.

The MBN is comprised of a dedicated cadre of employees, including support personnel, Intelligence Analysts, and Agents. The operations of the MBN include a staff of approximately 200 employees. These employees are strategically located throughout the state and is divided into three regions – Northern, Central and Southern. A Major commands each region. Each District within the region is commanded by a Captain and staffed with agents and support staff.

The Bureau’s Headquarters is located at 6090 I-55 South Frontage Road, in Jackson, Mississippi. MBN Headquarters is divided into various support services, including a legal division, intelligence division, evidence management, training division and a special operations.

In order to more effectively accomplish our mission it is vital that we have the support of the citizens of our great state. Combating the drug problem in this country and our state is a serious undertaking that must be assessed routinely in order to appropriately direct our assets. The MBN strives to make our state a safer place to live.
